I can still see her, and you.

Ciel tactfully ignored.

"I can see you just fine."

...Well, anyway, this isn't surprising. The fact that he could see her without magic indicates that Black Crystal should have no effect. (Which it doesn't.)

Now as for that advice...
I wonder if it's going to be something we haven't heard about before.
If i recall correctly, we've not been given any in-text reasons to be suspicious of Ciel... (though some people will always be suspicious due to genre conventions.) I wonder if it's that her existence itself is the problem.

What the heck does Glasses know about Ciel???? The plot THICKENS

23115: noname - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 1:38 AM

"You are literally Jotarou Joestar's foil, what with you being a smart wimp rather than a dumb brute. You've even willingly walked straight into a prison because of your demon. Also, that is not your Stand, it is a demon. Like I said, literally Jotarou's foil."

"You're saying I'm a JoJo reference?"

23116: Bisected - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 2:02 AM

Twist: Ciel isn't a part of Noah's subconscious

23117: Storm - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 3:54 AM

Wait, the cat's not marking him like the other prisoners?

Is it his cat?

23118: Zyzyzyryxy - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 4:20 AM

Ciel appeared after Noah's visit to the Elf's mind, right? Maybe she isn't Noah's but Elf's construct, bound to Noah, so taking care of him while he is being useful to the Elf?

Maybe Ciel is a bit like Yami Yugi:
Not necessarily entirely originating from Noah himself though usually manifesting as an enhanced version of him; more competent/experienced/powerful; truly an ally; but more ruthless and with some evil characteristics, leading to some conflicts between Noah and Ciel.
And/or maybe Ciel essentially is the version of Noah from APTGG.

I do also wonder whether the 'advice' about Ciel will be sincere, or just a trick to try to discourage Noah from using his abilities.

23120: someone - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 4:57 AM

The cat is marking him, if you go back to http://neorice.com/hoh_1627 you'll notice it takes at least five "MEW" to put a mark. Here we are only at three MEW so far.

23121: Franz - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 5:00 AM

And I always thought Noah to be just mean with her for no reason.

23122: KsCoPe - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 5:13 AM

Thoughts of the cat:
Mew!
Mew!
Mew!
Me.... STOP MOVING!!

Well, we know the black crystals have an effect as the kids were captured WITH the crystals used, as they would have been able to fight back and possibly effectively with their training, but they were rendered powerless.

So my guess is, it's quite bluntly his GLASSES that are what are giving him his sight, however this brings up two distinct possibilities that either his glasses are affected by an entirely different magic user, who say enchanted his glasses, or HE is able to enchant things leaving them with independent power.

There is a third possibility, that he is resisting the black crystal somehow and is channeling his spirit into his glasses, in effect "tinting" them so he can see more then the average person.

As for Ciel's new suspicion, I tend to learn towards the party that she is from someone else, but there may be a more interesting theory, which is woven into the very nature of magic and this world in general.

We'll have to wait and see!

I am LOVING THIS COMIC!

Ohohoho, finally! I've been wondering what the heck her deal is- I don't believe for a second she's a manifestation of his subconscious desires or whatever. "Beautiful magic anime woman who gives you Powers" is probably the desires of *most* teen boys- but she didn't count on Noah being ace and depressed and just having absolutely zero interest, repressed subconscious or otherwise. (It's kind of hilarious how she's been succeeding so far anyway, because Noah's just too apathetic to *do* anything after calling her bluff.)

*Advice

23126: Soup - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 5:55 AM

Guessing those glasses he's wearing aren't completely normal.

23127: Tom - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 7:48 AM

Wow.

23128: Junion - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 7:50 AM

I'm still going to go with.

She is a manifestation of his desires, but not a direct one.

Each time he uses his power to go inside of someone he's able to do 'something' (IE one wish with his power). His power takes in account what the person he's inside of knows and what that person can do magically.

It then does it's best to grant that wish based on those factors. And this has slowly created Ciel, she isn't just one wish, but multiple ones all affecting the same 'entity'.

Been awhile since I've read all the wishes...but I know the first one was essentially to know what was going on...

I'm willing to bet his glasses are Magilante tech, that can somehow detect magic. Assuming no one is lying about there being no magic involved, that's the next most obvious possibility that totally excludes magic as we've been taught about.

23130: Brilliand - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 10:39 AM

His glasses detecting magic doesn't quite make sense to me, because he can hear people talking on the "plane of magic" as well.

23131: hango - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 12:37 PM

Holy sheet, I realized there was a small clue about the cat

The illusion girl mentioned someone with free magic named "Catz"

Prediction 1: Black crystal prevents spirit manipulation, but it allows to see spirit just fine.

Prediction 2: Black crystal acts like Noah's favorite technique — mask.

Prediction 3: Glasses guy had a similar assistant, that eventually tried to take over his body and had to be destroyed.

Prediction 4: Those assistants are something like a dissociative identity disorder — everything is in the magician's head.

Prediction 5: If Noah learns to control this side of himself, he'd be more like the all-knowing, cold and calculating Noah from APTGG.

23133: Woodledude - Thursday, August 13 2020 - 10:26 PM

@Brilliand

Glasses can have microphones in them. That's one of Adam Savage's famous builds - A personal microphone built into a pair of his glasses, capable of being hooked up to a standard lapel mic setup. Just because they are or look like glasses doesn't mean they're limited to the functions of a normal pair of glasses.

Heck, even a pair of glasses isn't limited to the normal function of a pair of glasses. You could totally stab someone with glasses, or light a fire with one of the lenses under the right conditions. And glasses don't normally see magic; that's something that would have to somehow be added artificially. Glasses being related to sight is meaningless to their potential function. He could see magic with his underwear, if we're being totally honest.

Does it make narrative sense to clue the audience in with a pair of glasses? Yes, certainly. Which is where my guess comes from, naturally. But personally, I'm all for the Underwear of Magic Sight.
