Starting to feel sorry.

Sympathy from the Levin.

28471: SFrip - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 12:17 AM

I guess the 'dummy' role also prevents the contestant from lying, since giving false personal information would still be considered as giving information? Seems like the best strategy for someone with this role is pretending to be mute in order to avoid death by interrogation.

28472: Obilis - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 1:02 AM

Does Tobi's eye-shenanigans not allow her to look inside a person's head for explosives? Or is it that she didn't specifically look for them? (If they were in everyone's head, I'd think that Tobi would have seen one in Infinite when scanning for the source of his magic)

28473: Storm - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 1:08 AM

I was kinda hoping that one of the more calculating players (like Levin) may've figured that one out. I mean, they know that the game has crazy rules, and the gimped-out contestant was clearly afraid of answering *ANY* questions.

Guess Levin helped explain the miss, though: that stunt violated even Levin's sense of decency.. maybe the players will become more cautious of the hosts?

As for this alleged end-of-the-game.. I think the players really ought to be considering why the "game" exists in the first place. In particular, what reason, if any, might compel the hosts to actually let the players go at the end?

28474: Tnoz - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 1:37 AM

Even Levin has standards.

28475: Sporf - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 2:40 AM

The rule said if he broke the rule, he lost, not break the rule and die. Does losing the game mean death? Can there be only one winner?

28476: Nathan400 - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 2:52 AM

As T.V. Tropes would say, Even Evil Has Standards. And it seems these are Levin's. A Game must be fair, even if the players are not.

28477: Solarn - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 3:07 AM

Which means that the death rate is likely going to ramp up from now on, since it's not a death game if there aren't people dying, and from what we've learned, the Lorgians aren't happy if it's not a death game.

28478: Joe - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 3:36 AM

Nice

28479: Deliverance - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 4:11 AM

Apparently, the "trust game" has a "you lose, you die" clause - which frankly doesn't make much sense for a game proclaimed to be about trust and scoring victory by how much you carry out of the contest.

Certainly, the contest has had deadly traps arranged before (e.g. the first cleaner challenge and the bomb), but even so... this seems like a weird thing to implement.

A counterargument could be that we don't know much about what's in the game's participation agreement since Tobi didn't read it before signing. Perhaps it spelled it out, and we just weren't told.

But surely some of the other contestants did.

Oh, well, it arguably works in the context of Lorg and Death Games(tm), but it doesn't *quite* work for me and feels like a bit of foreshadowing of "you lose, you die", even if done so dimly that Tobi &Co. wouldn't notice, would have made the reveal now work better.

"THINK, TOBY, THINK!"

Ahem. Pretty shocking page, nice to see that Levin isn't just a generic jerkass.

@Nathan400 - Good call.

28481: TheMegax - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 4:30 AM

Wow, that's really cruel :[
Poor guy had barely any chance...

@Sporf
Smile often talks in euphemisms. Leaving, elimination, losing, they're all essentially just death.

28482: noname - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 4:56 AM

Congratz to the people who figured it out. Can you also figure out how/why Smiles died? Didn't seem like a bomb to me, but I may be wrong.

Dunno if I'd call this display "sympathy from Levin", it's closer to "outrage at how unfair this game can be"... Rule 22 dilemmas are never fun, and if your life is on the line, well...

@Sporf
They're called "Death Games". I think the implication that loss = death are kinda obvious: You either "win", meaning you survive until the end of the game and get to keep your winnings, or you die.

28483: Sir. Orc - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 6:53 AM

Assuming the dummy player wasn’t lying, this means Smile basically all but rigged things to result in his death by asking Infinite to go into the Orange room through the dummy, making him the prime suspect in former’s death.

28484: Anonymous Person - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 8:18 AM

Smile said nine of them would likely come out alive, so I'm assuming you don't have to die even if you don't make first place.

28485: UnknownID - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 9:53 AM

This was a suiting situation the death game brought this character into and pretty sad for him... :(

The shocking moment when Levin realised this could have been him. I like this new detail to his character. Nice to see that even him has some kind of "moral standards".

28486: omni001 - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 9:55 AM

Levin's right, mutually exclusive death conditions is completely against the spirit of the noble Lorg pastime of death sports.

28487: Agent_Cook - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 10:11 AM

You know this is extremely twisted stuff when even Levin dissaproves

28488: Forum Explorer - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 11:01 AM

What's Levin talking about? Since when were the roles randomized? Tobi knew she was going to be a cleaner going into this. I presumed everyone else also was assigned a role based on who they were.

28489: March - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 11:54 AM

What will happen with the coins of 'Dummy'?

28490: TheMegax - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 12:26 PM

@March
They are worthless, unfortunately.

@Deliverance
That was kind of a given with all the death games around Lorg. Kind of weird for anyone in the story to expect otherwise

28492: Cellphone - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 3:05 PM

What strikes me is that Levin is *wrong* about the possibility of it being anyone. There's clearly an element of discretion on the part of the Smile Foundation, with the way Tobi and Three are brought on as Cleaners, and how the Paladin is given a nice role to reward her unexpected entry.

Which makes me wonder- is there a reason the Smile people wanted the person in the suit silenced?

(The other question is, did Green know he was killing someone... We don't know what secrets he knows)

28493: Sir. Orc - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 7:53 PM

One thing that also occurred to me, is the bonus question asking about the player in the game under false pretenses. If Infinite hadn't died, his rule wouldn't have been shared, meaning no one would have known about it before the question round. While it's possible the question would have been asked regardless, this makes me suspect that Infinite's death was arranged by the host player to out his rule - and that thus they are either the player exempt from the killing rules, or hired said player.

If Fox is the free-kill player, it makes me suspect that Yellow is the host.

28494: someone - Wednesday, November 3 2021 - 7:55 PM

I don't think anyone mentioned it yet but the HoH logo has seen better days

28532: Deliverance - Saturday, November 6 2021 - 9:18 AM

@Sir. Orc
I doubt Fox is the free-kill player, on the grounds that IF Fox is the free-kill player, *why is Levin still alive*.
