Likely misinformed. I don't think daddy can spy on Malhart, so there's only his influence he can detect. It's reasonable to presume someone who dedicated their life to contain Chernyl wouldn't stop unless dead.
Unfortunately, his death can't be ruled out yet.

Then why would daddy know what guards Chernyl if he has no means to obtain information? We know already some nightmares pick on threats to Chernyl, so he too probably has awareness of most things happening in Haven.

From last comic, "That foul beast of a man must have finally gotten what he deserves". That to me sounds like Daddy doesn't actually know what happened, he just knows his awakening has enough implications and is assuming as such.
Also smart on Noel to say Malhart was simply shot, not killed.
