Get back to playing.

Yeah keep smiling Hevel, you know what you did.

11941: Commander_Dulton - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 1:26 AM

Felix doesn't even know what he did...

11942: Seikame - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 1:39 AM

Felix, hm ? Guess he call people by their names only when he's mad about them ?

Hope he'll at least get later the explanation of what he was doing, in order to not do it again. :I

Go Noah, crush Felix beneath your boots!

Wait, why is Noah lying down again?

11944: whitemanpt - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 1:48 AM

i wonder did that count as assisted suicide?

11945: Silver - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 1:53 AM

What? Felix wants a point for attempting to violently dismember/disintegrate himself? At this point I wonder if he understands the rules...

And Hevel tricked him? Hah, Oh Felix. So innocent in your... Felixness.

Seeing how all these kids act, though, I'm starting to believe that under his disgruntled teenager demeanour, only Noah is close to understanding the seriousness of their situation.

I'm lost. What did Felix do that made the ball go wack?

11947: Neoriceisgood - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 2:52 AM

@Tom

Instead of covering himself with spirit as a shield, he used the "surge" technique meant to draw the ball towards you.

Apparently Felix is really, REALLY good at using the surge technique.

11948: giovanni - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 4:30 AM

so, instead of putting up a shield, felix used an attack attractor.

well that was stupid and he didn't realize the difference.

11949: -D- - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 5:58 AM

@Whispers of Sorrow Noah is going back to his - pretend he is innocent.

11950: Storm - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 6:29 AM

It's still unclear exactly what abilities like Surge can do, but it looks like Felix could use it to pull off something like a gravitational slingshot effect.

It'd be something like:
1. Surge pull the ball hard toward himself until it's moving at that insane speed.
2. Instead of letting the ball hit him, intentionally miss. Dunno if he can control it to be slightly off-course, or if he just stops Surging for a moment and side-steps the ball on its current path. Either way, as long as the ball misses him.
3. Surge pull it hard as soon as doing so won't result in him getting hit (or continue Surging, if he never had to stop).
4. Stop Surging once the ball is on the desired trajectory, e.g. at another player.

In real life, orbital slingshot techniques are great for satellites and such, but they're complicated to pull off because we can't just turn gravity on and off (yet!). But if Felix can learn to control his Surging a bit, he'll have a huge advantage since he can turn it on and off. Even better if he's able to do more than just pull the ball directly at himself (like gravity does to satellites).

@Commander_Dulton

Hah yeah, a good teacher would've taken the moment to explain to the class what'd just happened.

But, this magic school seems all about secrets, and Garth just dodged a question about Surge a few strips ago (http://www.neorice.com/hoh_810).

11952: Rot - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 7:55 AM

Let's hope this kind of pressure prevents Noah from ruining this for Felix too.

11953: someone - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 8:22 AM

Garth can say all he wants about the incompetence of Noah and Felix, but the trufax of the matter is that it's him who really sucks at his job.

11954: Bisected - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 9:41 AM

Hey, teacher, leave them kids alone!

11955: Silver - Tuesday, February 21 2017 - 11:52 AM

Don't forget he's not just a teacher. He isn't there to give them knowledge. He's training little soldiers. He's already going to humiliate the worst by putting him down that hole. He's pitting them against each other, with this "lesson". I think they don't want the magic users to have very good relations with each other. He also told Gazz that he'll tell him about the surge if he can pull it off.

I think he wants to create some kind of hierarchy there... And the ones lower won't be treated too well... He's training the better ones to show initiative and not care about those beneath them.

Man if that's the explanation he needs to read a book about esprit de corps. Unit cohesion is essential to a functioning army!
