Second box panel two, best I got

I will chase you to the ends of the Earth, you may be preordained, but so have others. They all fall when faced with Celestial Might.

Translation:

I fear your clock is ticking, king
of filth and vermin, slayer of
those of true noble blood
---
I will chase you till the ends of
the earth you may be preordained
but so have others they all fall
when faced with celestial might

@Frustrated - Bless you and all kind souls who translate the stuff for us casual readers.

It looks like she's headed closer to the black crystal area....hmm

47506: ulan - Sunday, June 22 2025 - 7:24 AM

Uh-oh Tobi is heading down towards the botton of the black crystal mine.

What is that at the top right in thr second panel? A ghoul? Toby's rescuer, perhaps?

47508: Gobo - Sunday, June 22 2025 - 10:31 AM

It's worth noting that the people trying to create these guys were more worried about ghouls *because they had no other way to kill a ghoul.*

Which means they probably already had a way to kill these guys.

Lowkey wondering if Shalhia shows up and obliterates it. Might be that any esper can handle a phantasm fairly easily.

Tobi got them video game powers...go King go!

47510: Shatter - Sunday, June 22 2025 - 3:22 PM

@Gobo I disagree. There has been no way to permanently deal with a ghoul. Best you could hope for before was somehow incapacitating but not killing a ghoul and then guard it for the rest of your life, and hope no other ghouls come to save it.
Now these ghost keep to the roughly the same morals as the person they are made from. Tobi King is only having to run for her life because she is somehow destined to make paradise for ghouls or something. And the other dude the ghost killed was literally a weapon smuggler, totally someone he would killed when he was alive if he knew then.

@ Gobo: I suspect that Phantasms likely go away after a while, probably after they've done what the residual will wanted to do. Ghouls, meanwhile, stick around forever, and even the most seemingly benign or harmless them can commit catastrophic actions over centuries.

Think about it this way, a Ghoul sits in a corner of a room, never leaving it. It has one ability, to add to a singular drop of still water in a specific location inside of the room once a day. The drop starts at one millilitre, and the Ghoul can only increase the volume of that drop by one millilitre per day, but it does so obsessively.

Over time, as the water doesn't evaporate or otherwise move, the water will fill out the room. Then the house. It will take millennia, but eventually that singular drop of water will take up as much space as a city and JUST KEEP GROWING. This is a singular Ghoul doing something seemingly harmless at first, who happens to be a global-apocalypse-level threat if left alone long enough. And since nobody can actually kill Ghouls, they will eventually be left alone long enough, even if it's only after a different apocalypse occurs.

@tfernandesart
You're not the first to be mistaken, that's just the wall. The pattern was flipped and set, it looks like something but it's dirt.

@tfernandesart
Just background and pareidolia.

@Gobo
Ghouls just show up on their own. Phantasms don't. Even if they can't kill them either, they're less of a problem.
