@Neorice: clearly. And less friendly every moment it passes
50334: Segs - Monday, March 16 2026 - 1:13 AM
Now how does klassen know it was a game
50335: Saturine - Monday, March 16 2026 - 1:32 AM
Everything. Everything happened Klaassen. And you’re about to learn that hierarchy won’t protect you…
50336: Narzen - Monday, March 16 2026 - 2:19 AM
Did she ever call the place and game? How does he know it was a game?
50337: Silver - Monday, March 16 2026 - 2:24 AM
Oh she's about to snap
50338: oskarloko - Monday, March 16 2026 - 4:41 AM
Also Shalia is getting bad vibes...

So, wild guess, when the background goes fuzzy like back down with the madness either one of two is happening:
The person is defying their fate. (Come to think, Shalhia asked her colleage if he was armed, pointless question, sets her on high alert.)
The person is closer to sealing their fate. (She's getting confrontational instead of waltzing away.)
My point there, the background marks an inflection point in fate. It can go either way. Since I presume fate is what is meant to happen, inflection means defiance.
She witnessing her own corpse was the first step. And all thanks to Smile's inhumane experiments, she should be grateful!!
A further argument based on speculation for the first one, Klaasen knows what's going down there with Smile, that was G.O. backed; Paladin is but a Pawn (maybe a Knight) of an ally and she knows too much. The risk of letting her report back is far greater that the risk of having her removed from the board. So, yeah, trap.
Did oopsie guy bring in reinforcements or did he think that going in alone is better since it dies not involve any extras on the betrayal? Is this orders from the top, or just him freelancing?

That last panel would've won me $20 if I had made a bet out of the likelihood that Klaassen's line there would've popped up during this conversation.
Also: 3rd panel... That's some pretty intense static... Keep it together now, Shalhia...
50341: Ghost - Monday, March 16 2026 - 7:03 AM
Oh dear as others pointed out he called it a game, he shouldn't know that and if Shalhia's broken paranoid brain doesn't react in some way I'll be more surprised if she doesn't plan to kill him the first chance she gets because he's certainly not letting her live.
Now to find out if paladins have a built in safety feature to blow there brains out if they attack G.O leadership even without using they're cells or if its can be triggered by a detonator. I've been assuming gun but could be magic button makes paladin's head go pop.

Couldn't Shalia grow some extra layers of protecting cells on her head's back for protection while hiding it beneath her hood? Just in case ...
50343: Tom - Monday, March 16 2026 - 8:20 AM
Thank you eagle-eyed readers for pointing out Klassen's slip about the game. Shalhia does NOT in fact ever use that word.
50344: DeathBees - Monday, March 16 2026 - 1:24 AM
Given that smile was hiding behind the facade of a normal death game, it would make sense that he would know it was a game. This is not immediately suspicious. Cmon.
50345: Ahriman - Monday, March 16 2026 - 9:10 AM
@zet maybe, but we don't know the power of Klaassen's weapon, maybe it has anti-cells tech
50346: Katie - Monday, March 16 2026 - 12:42 PM
Klassen thinks she's a nice obedient pawn. I think he's gonna find out otherwise.
50347: Fuz - Monday, March 16 2026 - 12:42 PM
@DeathBees Agree, it's no proof.

Also, she was communicating with Klaassen when she entered the game. She could have overheard the ghoul party when they described the game to Tobi, and would likely have passed any such information on to Klaassen before going underground and losing contact.

@zet: In theory, sure. But I'll point out that the 'shot in the back of the head' dealy is a rather fuzzy interpretation of the vision. Could be, she's killed right in the face and just ends up lying face down thanks to the egg. Obviously, entry and exit wounds may indicate otherwise, but as I said, things were fuzzy, so to speak.
