Stealth, reconnaissance, and probably the occasional ambush. If the Empire is preparing a coherent magic military force these guys are going to be the eyes and ears of that force. Good news, if there is fighting they likely won't be in the heaviest of it. Bad news, they will likely be going in first and if they get surprised support might be awhile away or not coming at all.

Okay, so, this is just a first impression, of course, but the person in the foreground with the blue hair is giving off some rather Noah-like vibes. Now the question is: Will their similar vibes lead to them striking up a friendship that will last throughout the ages, or will it result in the two of them never willingly interacting with each other ever?

Personally, I'm guessing their being trained for support. The abilities of the students we know here so far strike me as serving a more utilitarian role while not inherently being strong in combat.

@Saturine thank you knew they reminded of someone else besides that hero Yanno. The latter don't know about to form an opinion. The former well if the kid is like Donny we need to fill the room with fire till its ash then burn the ash.
Guessing the texting kid is using somesort of internal network else someone has really slipped.
