THE PEONS.

Shoutout to my sardine lovers out there, you know who you are!

52349: someone - Monday, September 14 2026 - 5:48 AM

Hevel looks sad.

Erin is now officially an unredeemable monster, she made Hevel sad.

52350: Zed - Monday, September 14 2026 - 6:07 AM

This means there will be at least one update dedicated to them seeing Noah's room and expressing envy, lmao

Or on the flip side, Noah realizing that it is thanks to his spy status that he gets a room to himself instead of possibly bunking with someone

52351: Radical Dreamer - Monday, September 14 2026 - 6:54 AM

Haha only Felix would be happy being a peon. While the word does historically refer to foot soldiers modern connotations put a lot of negativity on its meaning.

So blue is basically for the spirit users who show a talent for the offensive disciplines and pandemonium powers that aren't more useful in another group.

52352: Dave the Not Nightmare - Monday, September 14 2026 - 7:03 AM

Wow not even being a little bit subtle here are they? Just straight up being called Peons. Something tells me this group is the one most likely to lose a lot of students.

52353: Charter - Monday, September 14 2026 - 12:08 AM

I genuinely can't tell if she's just calling them peons or if that is their actual genuine government assigned military designation.
Either way is funny!

52354: Ghost - Monday, September 14 2026 - 7:31 AM

Awww dear realities of a military conscripts life seem to be hitting home and making Gaz really salty, some might even take such talk as been disloyal to the Empire. Be careful Gaz that you don't end up been a live demonstration of the Contingency around your neck.

52355: Straightbackward - Monday, September 14 2026 - 11:00 AM

No, dear Gaston, you are not the "weak" soldiers/students, you are "basic", "standard", the "unremarkable", even possibly the most "expendable" considering how we've been told how valuable (as in costly) for the empire.

Strength is not what's being measured here; Noah, as the most outrageous example but maybe others too are certainly weaker than you on a 1vs1 (Cillia?) but they fit better in other more "colourful" role than "peon".

Anyway, <3 Gaston, it must feel terrible being moved into "peon" category after all his efforts to improve and control his skills, he's likely truly capable.

52356: TerinasTiger - Monday, September 14 2026 - 11:11 AM

They're literally a group named "The Peons"?!?

Not like "The Infantry" or something like that? Ok, I get that "Infantry" might be taken by other branches of the military or something, but seriously, "Peons"?!?

Wow, really shows how this program thinks of their participants, doesn't it?

52357: Z2 - Monday, September 14 2026 - 6:08 AM

Felix is just happy to be here

If he was just slightly less stupid, he'd be the most aspirational character in this entire comic

52358: Leo - Monday, September 14 2026 - 1:24 PM

Wow that's such a terrible name for magical infantry

52359: Thursday - Monday, September 14 2026 - 6:25 AM

Yas! The Peon house! Full of people who are, um, something or other!

52364: noname - Monday, September 14 2026 - 4:09 PM

I'm honestly surprised that Hevel was made a Peon... Heck, Gazz is hardly what I'd call "weak", either...

52365: Frozenstep - Monday, September 14 2026 - 4:14 PM

Dang, not even going to give them a decent title like "soldier" or "combatant"? Just peon? Way to boost moral...

52366: Whispers of Sorrow - Monday, September 14 2026 - 1:25 PM

It'd be funny if peon is the actual rank, instead of private, trooper, magiteer or something.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of the other houses is essentially the same as the Peons™ only with higher social status (and presumably, better training (more one on one teaching, that sort of thing)).

I now wonder which is considered better, the upper ring (nice rooms, but a lengthy commute) or the upper quarters.

It's a shame that Hevel is saddened by the bluntness, but that is, as they say, life. And he didn't do much of note, so, alas! Good that Felix is happy regardless, that's a positive attitude. It's good that sardines still exist despite all the troubles. As for Gaston, I believe Nelson Muntz has some wise words that apply.
