Veda's a loose cannon and a renegade cop! But damn if she isn't effective!
I do wonder how this is going to go.
Remember how Miss Marble was a huge [censored] to Noah back here: neorice.com/hoh_noah_1455 ?
Wonder if she's gonna get some comeuppance for that.
Didn't this redhead appear in Burk storyline?
I wonder if it's gonna turn our Marble secretly has Noah's best interests at heart and Veda doesn't.
Heh, that kinda reminds me of a scene from "Shogun" by James Clavell: Mariko has a bit of a heartfelt talk with an aristocratic bitch who's secretly plotting against Toranaga, Mariko's magnificent bastard of a lord. With just a bit of woe-ing about the bad situation Toranaga currently is in, she gets the noblewoman to blurt out a merely polite, but also kinda sardonic, line akin to "If only there was something I could do to help." Mariko instantly jumps at that and consequently makes it MUCH harder for the noblewoman to carry out her plot... and then she casually maneuveres the bitch into saying it AGAIN, not even two minutes after she first did it, resulting in the noblewoman's entire plot completely falling apart due to the favours Mariko extorts out of her.
marble just got buuuusted!
Yeah...that was just plain clumsy.
But hey, when someone sticks their head on the chopping block, why not oblige them eh?
Man she's poking Veda right in the boob
Did she stutter?
No, no she didn't.
Unlikeable or not, it would really be much better for EVERYBODY if the people taking up grievances with Veda actually had a chance; we should mostly be more worried that they don't.
Somebody needs to sell Justopeans a 'fascism safe phrasebook' that teaches them how to word things without triggering the higher ups.
Something like "The emperor's regard for you on a personal level does not entitle you to subvert his command structures!" is the exact same statement but with 10,000% better odds of not going horribly wrong like this is about to.
We KNOW Veda doesn't have Noah's best interests at heart, but Marble's behavior towards him has been abysmal as well. Personally... I don't have any faith in her at this moment in the story.
Honestly... does *anyone* have these kids' best interests at heart?
Out of the three protagonists, Noah is the only one that doesn't seem to particularly have any agency... I wonder what is going to end up happening to turn things around for him in that regard.
It stands to reason that Noah has at least some concern for his own best interests, even if his ability to do anything about it is limited.
And with his abilities he probably could have a lot more agency than he does.
