Dumb game.

Ah I'm sure someone likes the game Tobi.

I wonder if Mr.Smile is a head ghoul or something and the other ghouls are contractually obligated to send him good game.

It makes some sense for Mr.Smile (the participant) to be a ghoul or something alike. The mask and chains can easily hide any of the characteristic deformations ghouls have. The ghoul adventurers leading Tobi there.

Yea I'm also starting to think Mr. Smile might even be the green ghoul we see here in this page; https://www.neorice.com/hoh_tobi_1000. Both have completely black eyes and red pupils, and both seem to be cheery in some way.

Does it mean the world is a MMORPG, ghouls are players, and Rauel is another game?

Somebody probably already theorized this, but I think that Ghouls are people from Tobi's video game dimension.

All the ghouls have horns tho (or rather, each ghoul has 1 horn). If the Smile participant were a ghoul, the horn would be clearly visible.

I'm gonna say that ghouls are those who have won the smile game before.
They see Tobi and some others as good potential ghouls and the rest are just fodder.
However, I think the host is the shy nervous guy for reasons

I mentioned this on the last page, but yeah. I'm betting Tobi isn't on their list because she's from a video-gamey world. They clearly weren't hostile to her at all, and they described the exchange as a sales pitch once Tobi was out of earshot. They even spent a long time trying to get her attention, when they could've just ambushed her from behind.

@Tom @Violet I don't think the Ghouls have anything to do with Tobi's world per se. The "adventuring party" so far is the only set of Ghouls we've seen that use classes, the bearded ghoul from Burk's storyline https://www.neorice.com/hoh_burk_890
for example does not make any mention of classes (and generally acts more coherent and rational than the adventuring ghouls). His companion is implied to be of a similar nature. Based on the example from Burk's storyline, the ghouls seem to have a connection to certain kinds of magic users.

One thing to note about the party Ghouls is that they seem to have a very biased view of humans as schemers: https://www.neorice.com/hoh_tobi_1001
I think their relatively benign interest in Tobi is tied to the fact she isn't human.

My theory with the Ghouls, especially given that the bearded one from Burk's storyline didn't transform until after he died, and the connection they have with magic - is that they are product of magic users like Noah who have sapient spirits becoming fused with said spirits. Part of why I suspect this is that Ciel has horns, which all Ghouls feature, and that glasses kid fears that a sapient spirit will try to get Noah to kill others, which is the behavior of ghouls according to Shaliah.

@Sir. Orc What leads you to the conclusion that those transforming magic users from Burk's storyline are ghouls? It isn't obvious to me that those two are related to Tobi's ghouls at all.

How do you kill them?

YOU SIMPLY CAN'T.
