This whole exchange only makes sense if Burk had advance information about Zadkiel.

I'd argue that Alf was also ended well and thoroughly.

I don’t know how but Burk continues to be the most mysterious protagonist we have. Truly what a weirdo.

I think I understand what big Z is saying. Ghouls have been shown to be able to observe not just what is in front of them but possibilities as well. Burk seems to defy this in some way that makes him interesting enough to keep both alive and to accept a favor from.

Maybe the two spirits whispering in his ear put an idea in his head or maybe Burk has a few abilities we, and possibly he, doesn't even know about.

Hhhuh... This is unexpected from several angles... Burk choosing pacifism instead of fighty fighty, the pacifist option actually working out, Zadkiel having some kind of metaphysical awareness of who/what Burk is -- though this seems to be an ability shared by most ghouls, and Zadkiel (a Black Star ghoul) having a recent record of letting high priority targets go... Who were the other two high priority targets he allowed to go on their way? And why did he let them go? The plot chickens.

This seems a little Burk-ex-machina...

So who from Heroland has sent this duo after Team Burk?

I was under impression the secret police was to observe them, and strike only if necessary. But the condition of sparing Piper means the rules set by Chaser are observed, so it was the top of Heroland who hired the assassins (and not the corrupt executives, who would love to murder also Piper). But why now?

Just like Burk gets stronger when he shows his eyes, WAIT, can Burk SEE THE FUTURE with his eyes completely uncovered?

God, Burk's story really is just the worst in every conceivable way.

Of course, the large Zed fellow has read all those prophecies and the end appears to be fairly nigh, so you can see why Heroland's favour would be of less concern to him than it otherwise might.
