@Nomen If you think that's bad, you should know what her name means in my native language!

I just looked it up. No wonder the kid has a complex! (None of these are complaints, by the way.)

...Are you german? I am german and know Held is the german word for hero.

@Neorice what *is* your native language, if you don’t mind my asking?

Given that Held has and not had tenacity, I wonder what happens when the framing device catches up to the present.

I think Neorice is Dutch, or at least has Dutch origins.

Burk. Definitely Burk. The Blue Riding Hood needs to finish her countdown.

@Neorice
Oh, social media says you are from the Netherlands. Though Held has a identical meaning in dutch and german
48459: Welf - Friday, October 10 2025 - 1:51 PM
@Brownie24128 The word "Held" is the same in German, Dutch, Afrikaans and Yiddish. In Swedish, Norwegian Icelandic and Danish is spoken very similarly, but written differently.

Did I misread that or is the Clockmaker imply he's here because of something Held did?
48462: Tear-a-bite - Saturday, October 11 2025 - 9:13 AM
@Whispers of Sorrow
It does sound like the Clockmaker is implying that based on the way it's worded, but based on the story so far I'd assume that he means Held is the reason Theobold Purpurmane is in prison, and thus in prison with the Clockmaker.
I'd think if the Clockmaker was implying he was in there due to Held, Theobold would react to that.
Though it's also possible it's intended as a stealthy foreshadowing that Theobold didn't quite pick up on.
So, Held *holds* onto things? -_-
