Ah... Yes... The SCP's excellent work during the Haven incident... You know what the funny thing is? Their work would still have been called "excellent" if they had set off the nukes... Heck, I bet the SCP's work in Haven would still have been called "excellent" even if everything failed and Haven went down as an unstoppable apocalyptic event...

Hrrm, I wonder, are the JSP in damage control mode? That is, covering up their failures for the good of the organisation? Number One's insane actions may have genuinely embarrassed them - he came close to dooming not just Haven, but the entire empire: Chernyl would not have been killed by his bomb. And if he'd executed Noel, well, same problem, they wouldn't have found Chernyl without his ability to communicate with Ciel.
The refusal to evacuate Haven may be being blamed partly on him too: It was Ensign Fake Smiles who made that decision, but he could have intervened at that point and said yes to evacuation: He knew how dangerous Chernyl was.
The JSP are obviously very powerful and seem to be the reason things are the way they are in Justopea - but their power isn't infinite and they may be panicking. That would make them more dangerous rather then less of course.
