I don't think they'll appreciate Shalhia showing that kind of initiative

now she's just asking for a bullet at the back of the head

are you really risking an oopsie over them?

*hisses between teeth* Oooh, Shalhia... Shalhia, Shalhia, Shalhia... Don't get me wrong, I absolutely think you did the right thing saying that -- not only because you gave Tobi your word but also because I trust Tobi with you about a 100 times more than with Klaassen and his crew... but, with those words, I fear you may have also put the proverbial pen to your metaphorical death warrant paper...

Yeah, I bet Klaassen would love to hear all the details - how else are they getting a report on the experiment, now that most if not all Smile employees are dead?

Interesting euphemism shelter. That aside, this looks like a reason to for him to go for his gun.

Basically saying "Tell me what you know, so I know if I need to kill you or not..."
Yeah, he already knew about Smile.

She's counting on this slimebag to not be able to stop her if she triggers a fight, so she's triggering it nice and early.

She knows she's going to die if she stands up for Tobi, and she's still going to do it. I really would love it if Shalhia gets to come out of this alive, but we know how it goes.
50307: Taorin - Friday, March 13 2026 - 9:46 AM
@Everyone saying Shalhia is asking for a bullet now.
I'm pretty sure she expects said bullet and is 100% ready for it.
50308: Mohegan - Friday, March 13 2026 - 11:25 AM
Man, she really is one kickass Paladin, Lawful Good to the core. Really hope this works out for her, Shalhia’s put up one heck of a fight so far…

Kekw, I just read the author's comment.;P

Also, FWW, the shot was from behind, maybe she's focusing a bit too much on Klaasen and not her surroundings in any case, it seems to me unlikely it is him the one that hypothetically kills her, maybe some bodyguards lurking around, but if she's got her guard up, she should be waiting to react on any threatening movement he makes.

@Taorin
Oh, definitely. She knows that this is, in all likelihood, where she dies. This decision she's making by saying this to Klaassen? I reckon it is Shalhia deciding her legacy -- the terms according to which she leaves the world: Not bowing to her seedy superior, even if that could have been her ticket out of her doom, but trying to do the right thing one last time.
@Mohegan
I dunno if I'd say that Shalhia is "Lawful Good to the core"; the setting and circumstances she's in basically prohibits her from being that... But she is what a Paladin in a setting like this should be at their core: If not Lawful Good themselves, then at least trying to protect whatever good is left in the world.

It will be kind of disappointing if she gets shot and died now. I'm half expecting her to snap his neck like she did with the one Infinite grunt from before the whole Smile mess started (just because she can't use any of the more supernatural abilities doesn't mean she can't win a fight).
