Well, the number of problems is going down. This is technically progress.

47473: que - Wednesday, June 18 2025 - 9:44 PM

i'm surprised he's so influenced by this eldritch-y lore.

would've thought he'd have more agency and just go after the scummier living participants.

Well, that's probably just an Infinighoul Clone, given it's blue colour, so Infinighoul is unlikely to be dead.

Also, Tobi probably can't be killed by Phantasms. Otherwise Phantasm Heusten wouldn't be able to see Tobi successfully becoming the "Unknown King, Lord of Vermin, Idol of Insects and Enemy of the True Kings Of Old".

Please be alive Mr Green

Lord of Vermin is going to be a pun based on computer bugs because that’s her village’s elder power, to break the rules and glitch the matrix

Tobi, being the king of glitches, cannot remain in this world for some reason.

RUN ALL YOU WISH, KING OF FILTH
SHEPHERD OF VERMIN. I CAN SEE
BEYOND NOW. WHERE YOU GO,
I WILL ETERNALLY FOLLOW.

Yeah. Making last longing friendships.

Uh oh, Red floor for the Red player

47479: Silly Name - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 7:14 AM

@que Heusten is a loyal civil servant. His entire reason for being in the game in the first place was to serve his country.

Now that he's killed Jay and technically accomplished his original mission (stop the Black Crystal smuggler), he goes after Tobi, because the eldritch knowledge he gained has shown Heusten that Tobi will cause the downfall of Vallance.

Heusten has no real reason to go after someone like Levin. Levin is not a threat to Vallance.

47480: Lurker - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 8:28 AM

@Datren Even if the floor wasn't red, the phantasm was the player with the free license to kill. Assuming he's still a player and not considered dead.

47481: Melany - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 9:45 AM

@Datren @Lurker
Even if the floor wasn't red, and even if Heusten didn't have a free license to kill, I doubt a phantasm cares much for the game rules. Somehow I feel a bomb, if he even still has it in his head, isn't going to affect him a whole lot.

47482: TheMegax - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 1:46 PM

@Lurker
I think it hardly matters if the phantasm breaks the no kill rule ^^"

47483: Lurker - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 4:52 PM

Now I'm confused. The rope was hanging over the side of the hole when Tobi jumped, wasn't there when she fell, and now it's next to Tobi after dropping? I'd assume we'd see it hanging down the ceiling the last two pages.

47484: Lurker - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 6:29 PM

@Melany @TheMegax I agree. I'm just saying that, hypothetically, if he was still playing by the rules, that they wouldn't be a restriction here.

47485: Darius Drake - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 6:37 PM

@ Silly Name: There's also the fact that Tobi is, according to Phantasm Heusten, the "Enemy of the True Kings of Old". That is the type of revelation that would lead a rough approximation of loyal civil servant to continue acting for the benefit of the "True Kings of Old".

47486: Agent_Cook - Thursday, June 19 2025 - 10:06 PM

Too bad; I like the idea of Ghoulfinite being vanquished, but if I have to choose between the King and Heusten, I'm with Tobi.
