@ Zalander - I still have no idea why or how sincerely they call her king. "My king" can be used for ownership, like "My pawn", rather than as "My liege".

And I might've assumed your bet hedging lay in the form of having spare kings, rather than your kings being anything exceptional in their own right.

After all, in the metaphor of chess, a king is weak, limited, and - ultimately the cornerstone of your victory. The thing that allows you to win the game you're playing wouldn't need to be exceptionally dangerous or deathproof if that were the metaphor.

Hahaha, you got us Zal, we definitely all expected Tobi to be definitively and irrevocably gone from the story, sure enough that's what we all thought.

Zalander you foolish ghoul, do you think you can possibly comprehend a humans ability to follow the flow? Besides it sounded like a bunch of people thought those were the Phantasm's bones so it doesn't entirely fit.

@RandomFan I mean, that's assuming this is a chess metaphor *at all*. But, also, in chess, you don't get multiple kings - if you lose your kings, it's checkmate and you've lost. So making your "king" deathproof is actually pretty important.

Also, Toby *is* pretty exceptional. Theres' only two (maybe three) people that have crossed over from Rauel, and Toby appears to be special anyways as Baku's 'granddaughter'.

I actually figured it wasn't her skeleton, so I'd argue I'm not foolish at all.

I'm predicting now that Tobi did indeed super-die, but like Ghouls will respawn someplace. Maybe with sweet new powers and a proper class.

@ Zalander: I'm not worried about the black water ending her run. I'm worried about it irrevocably transforming her in some manner. That worry got worse now the Black Water she submerged into seems to be affected by the Phantasm that was produced from Heusten, likely increasing the odds of the Black Water transforming her in some manner.

Your words that your kind hedge your bets as needed do not encourage me that she'll be able to come out of the Black Water unaffected.
