I think thats a very reasonable reaction. Get a 2nd take on the situation.

Sounds like good advice. I'm sure Theo will successfully follow it and not end up in pris- oh.

Our friend seems tired... (a lot of lovers or no lovers ?)

At this point it seems that her mind is put on to become a knight of vallance, so yep, there's no going back on this one.

One thing I notice, Theo seems to know a thing or two less than he narrated in previous chapters. I guess, at this point, he does not know the full story of the experiment, Akriad's talk about Valiant's dream, the night shift talk between Held and Valiant about Vallance, and finally Held's promise to Valiant in the spirit world.

Going to be heck of an arguement coming that leaves Theo as the 'purple knight'.
@Straight think he mentioned that Held told him the truth much much later in one of the scene setting pieces.

How a picture of a familiar-looking tree ended up on that wall behind them, I wonder?

@Ghost Yeah, most certainly Theo mentioned that.
I suppose I needed to comment on that because it didn't feel quite natural to me or didn't fit my image of Theo. He felt quite like both a guardian and an involved parent, caring about Held, her training and her future.
Right now he reads quite apathetic, uncaring of Held and her emotions, not helping her deal with the grief, one important moment a child eventually has to deal with.
I guess going to a friend and asking about Held _is_ caring; Theo was just clueless about how to deal with the situation.
