Our main character: "Hmmm. I could figure out every one of my classmate's codes right now with my spirit abilities, but also do I really want to work that hard in class? It's a huge dilemma."

Ooooooh, evil thoughts flooding in, the task requires Three things.

Protecting yourself
Finding your target
Safeguarding your note

If someone really wants others to fail, which I'm sure here are some already, go and snatch the note away. Like I can see Noah and the Malhartians willing to sabotage the noble kids if given the chance, or eve going for it actively.

It works the other way, if they really hate on Noah's inferior powerlessness they could aim to get him down the bus.

Telekine-sis could do it, right?

"Gist of my jib" is a bit of a mixed metaphor, though I doubt that has particular significance.

I wonder... could Noah stash his letter in a mindscape, his own or someone else's? If he could, then it would be easy enough to retrieve it before the deadline. I doubt he'll try that, and think it would be unwise to, but the thought occurs.

Ordinary spirit abilities seem to offer little here - unless the ink used is infused with spirit or reacts with it, in which case the spirit alteration abilities would be obviously useful. This might come down to basic stealth though, at least for those without relevant powers. Of the known powers, Cillia and Nina Jager seem to have the advantage.

It's also possible that codes are inducible per participant with enough of them, which would make it a social game- who can you trust to swap codes with as you gather data? Will they sell it or spread it further? Is it too obvious to go directly for your target? There protecting your code wouldn't just be guarding the paper physically, it would also have to involve undercutting negotiations of whoever was spying on you.

Everyone can stash the letter inside their...
Well, everyone knows where we are going.

Seriosly, it is an interesting challenge by itself, putting aside the threat to their lives if they fail. I don't think it will came to that in the end - but with the Empire and the JSP who knows

Interesting, maybe it would be best for him to network with friends to hold onto or hide it. Is there anyone with a power that could aid in securing it from… the Felix and his cards!

@oskarloko book? Inside their book? I don't know whether books are included in the dorms, but as a bookworm it wouldn't be at all suspicious for Noah to have a shelf full.

Noah can basically incept someone, get their code, and leave when it's close to the deadline.

It's a classic setup.

I just had a thought. Hinata's target is Noah.

Noah can probably clear the "find the information" stage fairly easily. Scout out in astral form and get Ciel to tell him what's written on his target's. He still fails because Hinata already knows what Noah's Secret Code is.

He could ask Felix to card it, but then anyone could use the cards if I recall?

I don't see any rules against having a proxy steal the letter for you, though. That makes sense, since recruiting agents is spycraft 101.
