A party is about to get started (in the sewers)

Tobi has parents?

It certainly has its charm, but I preferred the higher res sprites.

2566: TCF - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 2:25 AM

Chibi!
This style is actually kinda cool.
Wait, we switched to Tobi's story now? Is it going to switch more often from now on?

2567: Matt - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 4:30 AM

These sprites are cute, and if we hadn't just come from the glorious high resolution sprites of Noah's story, I wouldn't have a problem with this, but they look kinda lame in comparison.

2568: Thrawn - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 5:02 AM

Those are probably the best sprite goggles I've seen ^_^

2569: giovanni - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 5:33 AM

is that moe in the comments?

2570: NuclearD00d - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 6:15 AM

Hehe, stubby legs. :D

2571: Droidette - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 8:18 AM

I actually like this style, a lot more than Noah's, which i didn't say sucked, just that i didn't like it in comparison to Burk's.

2572: ET - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 8:23 AM

I liked it, cute and nostalgic. ^^

2573: Lana - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 8:55 AM

Loving this new style SO much, but you already know that. <3
I love the portraits in the bubbles. They really preserve the quality you got from your previous sprites.
I like how these guys look like they can be modified, too!

And I bet your update rate is going to benefit! :D

2574: Neoriceisgood - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 9:03 AM

@Droidette:

I wasn't claiming anyone in particular was saying a style sucked, It was more tongue in cheek.

Personally I like this style a lot more as well, it's technically less of a show of skill, but increases the rate at which I can create new pages a lot.

2575: FM - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 9:46 AM

I for one am really enjoying the contrast between styles. It gives each story a different feel to it. And therefor, presets a mood for the page.

P.S. I see sewer zombies!

2576: ADHadh - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 10:06 AM

Are we to assume every storyline will have its own style now?
If so, awesome.

2577: mrlollige - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 10:49 AM

Yay, 3 styles! Now we just need 3 websites, and we have 3 comics :D

2578: Metacurious - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 12:50 PM

Three styles is okay I guess. But. I like burk's best! Because AW DAYUM etc it's pretty.

2579: anon - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 1:01 PM

i love this style

you should swap occasionally between your styles, keep expermenting!

2580: Ceata88 - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 1:01 PM

Omfg, chibi Three! Squeeeeeee!

2581: Battrry - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 2:25 PM

hmm, so each style is paired with a different story? i definitely like the pictures in the speech bubbles. in any case, however you're gonna do it is how it's gonna be done.

2582: PK - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 3:34 PM

Nice. I like both Burke's and this style over Noah's style.

But hehe, you could always claim the art shift as perspectives from the different characters.

2583: Incuro - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 4:07 PM

Its a really weird change, but atleast we get more on Tobi!!!

Ya, I just looked back through the previous chapters, your art has changed a ton since the first comic!

Ofcourse now Im motivated to try to learn to make pixel art, but that motivation will die in a few minutes.....

Three!!!!!

2584: Metaru - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 4:32 PM

do i get a pat in the back for noticing that you do have a thing for making Tobi in SD aesthetics*, not tomention you seem to enjoy using her storyline to experiment new aesthetics in general?

(*just like in page 144.)
(i totally didn't re-read tobi's storyline completely last night)

2585: Presence - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 6:56 PM

I like this very much. The whole rest of the comic could be like it and I'd be happy, though I think it might be better to be a little less chibi. Not that there's anything wrong with chibi, just doesn't fit the theme in my opinion.

No matter what I hope you keep the text panels with pictures, they're perfect.

2586: Freako - Tuesday, April 12 2011 - 7:01 PM

I think this style's a fair compromise between fast output and preserving the expressiveness of the characters. I am wondering, though, are these art style shifts meant to be associated with the different character arcs? Or was that coincidental?

2587: Luffy - Wednesday, April 13 2011 - 1:03 AM

The graphics have charm but make it hard to take in the seriousness of Tobi's predicament due to her being a chibi.
Also the monsters in chibi form don't look very threatening. They don't give a 'Oh oh' or 'Holy Crap!' feeling.
Really liked what you have done with the Noah and Burk storylines. It is obvious when diving through the archives that your artistic style and narrative powers have grown immensely. You are very talented and should be proud with what you have accomplished. Looking forward to seeing what you've got in store for us next!

2588: Unknowen - Wednesday, April 13 2011 - 1:36 AM

I dislike the new art style. :< Not the tiny tobi mugshot, and not the... Tiny Tobi. D: Noah and Burk artstyle looked best but Noah is more quality...Superior...Yeah.

2589: The Mysterious X - Wednesday, April 13 2011 - 1:44 AM

A Path To Greater Chibi!

2590: Evilagram - Wednesday, April 13 2011 - 1:46 AM

Good style. Don't know if it fits with the story.

2591: NuclearD00d - Wednesday, April 13 2011 - 3:00 AM

I just realized something, aren't you supposed to stick to one style? Because burk will look kinda retarded with this style. :O
