Taking questions.

Sup guys! How are you enjoying the daily updates over summer? I've been working hard to keep my buffer up (It's still over 200 pages >:D)

I thought it'd be fun to do a little FAQ-y thing w/regards to the comic. So sup?

200 pages?!
Holy Crap!!!

Regarding your update schedule, I really appreciate it. I read a lot of webcomics and there are some very good ones out there. But I've found that regardless of how good a webcomic is, if they can't consistently update at least once a week, I'll usually lose interest because I'll lose context of the story and with it, my investment in the story. This has not been a problem with your comic! Keep up the good work!

Personally, I'm wondering how you came up the characters for Burk, Noah, and Tobi as the main characters of your story. They each seem like they could essentially carry a story from start to finish all on their own - with support cast like Pablo and Three, of course - , but you've instead opted to have them all be involved in the same story. So. . ., is there perhaps anything you can share in that regard?

Yay for absurdly large buffers! We'll never run out of comics! Or at least until next July if my math isn't terrible.

Love your comic. It's great.

9938: Tom - Thursday, August 4 2016 - 2:52 AM

Update schedule is win. Keep it up (if you can)!

I'm very happy with the reboot overall, even though some storylines have major changes (Noah's personality, Tobi's background).

An FAQ would be AWESOME.

Didn't your buffer used to be 300 pages big? :o

@BlazeCell

Thank you! I try never to drop below 3x a week, but if I have the free time to produce daily pages I do love a daily update rate. I think it best suits my comic. (but not always something I can reliably do)

@John that's the plan yeah. :)

@yan Thank you!

@Tom I like to think most changes are for the best, they're all basically related to stuff I was very unsatisfied with in aptGG. :)

@Pirate-Rob

Biggest it's been is 215 I believe.

@JailedCinder

Will reply to your question in a larger reply a bit later. :)

Finally the stories are catching up with aptGG, so it is getting more and more interesting :). Thanks for the extra updates!

I'd just like to say that HoH is one of my favorite webcomics, and also a huge inspiration for me, as I am something of an amateur pixel artist, working on getting better.

Relatedly, I was wondering if you plan to make any more pixel art tutorials. I found two, I think, on your DA, and they were actually extremely helpful for me. I'd love to see more.

@JailedCinder

I'm not gonna go too much into how the stories connect but there's a few things that inspired me:

1. As a kid I was always a bit annoyed when I played RPGs or watched shows and it felt like everything just revolved around the main character. (big example: nearly every cutscene in FF8 being Squall-based)

The obession with a single character, a single angle [on these often magical worlds] felt ... off to me.

2. Some games like Seiken Densetsu 3, heroes meeting in crossover series (especially when their morals don't quite match) always fascinated me. When something is set up in such a way that you have several protagonists and none of them feel like they're necessarily the "True" one ... that changes the dynamics of a story a lot.

I won't spoil too much w/regards to the future, but I intentionally designed Tobi, Burk & Noah to enbody quite different takes on various elements you may see in a protagonist. (on levels a lot further than simply personality); Contrast between charactrs, motivations & situations have always been something I find interesting in a story.

Hope that helps. :)

@Neoriceisgood

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. Your answer has definitely cleared things up for me. :)

In fact, I'm now looking forward all the more to when the stories of Burk, Noah, and Tobi will begin to cross - even if only briefly or via through their given support characters initially. :)

9960: Bisected - Friday, August 5 2016 - 4:20 AM

If you could make a movie adaptation of HoH, what would your casting choices for Burk, Tobi, Noah et al be?

9962: Neoriceisgood - Friday, August 5 2016 - 6:15 AM

@Bisected

I'm not sure I know any particularly famous actors who resemble any of them!

@JailedCinder

With Detective Guy Juliet, we already are beginning to cross stories~

In a earlier post,Prof. Null talked about three types of magic: Magic Potential, Pendulum Magic, and Free Magic. However, you recently mentioned that the Aristocrat harnesses a different kind of magic that is completely separate from the others- SPIRIT MAGIC.So, here's my question: What are ALL the types of magic, and what sets them apart from each other?
