1 AM Bed party.

Noah thought that transition meant his chapter was over and he could sleep in peace.

BUT IT WAS A LIE.

Why is the blanket changing sizes to such a large degree? I can't see anyone accidentally doing that while asleep... or wanting to do it while pretending to sleep.

Guess: They heard him talking to Ciel (cause he was a fool and didn't ask Ciel if she sensed anyone first) and think he might be a spy.

I thought Ciel said she would warn Noah about people attacking in his sleep.
And I didn't realise Eloy would be this desperate for Noah to join his party...

If Ciel didn't warn him, I guess they either know about her, or she's not all she seems.

... *squints* ...does- does Noah's PJ pants have li'l pawclaws?

he looks like a fluffy cloud in his sleep

I see two possibilities here, Noah really won't like either of them.

The first is that Noah was right to be afraid of having lost the Empire's trust and bad thingsā„¢ are about to happen on that front.

The second... is that Ciel was right about the Empire being afraid of remote observation... which is why they wanted to be certain that Noah was unaware of his role in this night's operation, so as to ensure that the enemy would be caught without their trousers.

One thing's for certain: This is not going to be a nice night for Noah.

@Bisected I believe Ciel is just an extension of Noah's senses, perhaps she didn't notice the guards (with their training and all).

Maybe the party was a trap of sorts, drug in the food or drinks for whatever imperial purpose.

Noah being away from the party required this little bit of extra work for the guards. (Shame on you, Noah!)

Maybe it's a hazing ritual... They want to initiate him into their order (or similar), and start with filling him with alcohol, which is only possible by force.

21356: Mohegan - Tuesday, February 18 2020 - 1:38 PM

Gee, I wonder which one is Eloy? :P
That aside, I love their guard designs, and the masks are so well done!

Oh it's that Bottle Drinking Constantly Guy. Hey!

21358: Guest - Tuesday, February 18 2020 - 4:34 PM

Guard 2 is a threat. Never trust someone with a fence for a face!

Those guys *look* like royal guards, but in a world of magic, espionage, and mixed loyalties, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's The Empire making contact with Noah here.

If they're actually royal guards acting for The Empire, then they might be taking him out for a surprise secret mission or something. That could be alarming, as if they suddenly send him off on a mission without prep or the chance to tell anyone about it, they might be planning to take him out on that mission without any of his peers being the wiser.

If they're royal guards acting on their own imitative, then they might be trying to interact with Noah beneath The Empire's notice. Perhaps they're trying to get Noah out if they suspect that The Empire's about to move against him, or perhaps they want to share inside knowledge.

If they're royal guards acting under mind-control, then this may be the other side trying to grab Noah again, or/and talk to him. Presumably they don't mean him immediate harm, as they didn't directly attack him.

If they're disguised or doppelgangers of royal guards, then ditto.. but this seems unlikely, as the one royal guard with the bottle's almost certainly Eloy, which seems like a strong inside-knowledge detail.

If they're imaginary (perhaps like Ciel?), then they may be thought projections into Noah's mind to get him to, for example, run out of the train, where he can be kidnapped by the other side.

Or, if they're part of one of Noah's dreams, then this could just be a scenario playing out in his head.

My guess is that something went wrong during the party, and Noah was the only magic student who wasn't at the party.

Boy is that back shot of the imperial guard epic or what?
