For those who haven't noticed

Taking one of my breaks to get some things done.

Right now I'm looking into flash a bit, may plan to use it for comic-purposes in the future, but trying to figure out if it'd be worthwhile/nice.

For those wanting to give feedback,

How would you feel about an animated/episodical continuation of the comic in flash? [it'd remain pixelart-based, of course]

I think it definitely has it's advantages, aside from the fact that animating some stuff may take more time than usually.

But I'd like feedback from readers on this;

What would you like/dislike if I did this, and what would or wouldn't you want to see?

Peace out, and I appreciate any future feedback.

An animated continuation would be amazing, I think. Good luck to you!

Alright, I just wanted to know if you were dead or anything.

I approve of this flash idea.

if you do, i would prefer no voice acting. i like being able to imagine the characters voices/accents in my head. but music and sfx would be cool. it would also be awesome to see your art in motion, instead of single sprites.
the actual animation would have to be at least a few minutes long, and could cover more than a single comic. if it's too short, it'll feel like a wasted effort.

now thats a GREAT idea!
maybe you could even add some music and sound effects. Spoken dialogue would be a long shot though.

but yeah, tottallly support that idea

I would like it except that it would take much longer and more rbeaks. I also would not like the waiting times for it to buffer. Besides that power to you, but I do enjoy the comics quite a bit.

I think an animated version sounds cool, but I'd much rather have frequent updates. :D

Nononononon D: It wouldn't be as good! Honest.

1301: Alvama - Monday, November 30 2009 - 3:12 AM

it would be epic!
ye got mai support1

I'm kinda halfway on this decision. On one hand it would be awsome. On the other hand it would be hard to account for everyone's reading speeds, and it would also take more time, thus we would get comics less often.

1303: Jesse - Monday, November 30 2009 - 4:16 AM

Sounds good!

I would honestly say to keep it as it is. Path to Greater Good is a comic, and it works great like that.

Besides, if you switch it to animation, you'd have to make a bazillion jillion extra sprites for characters, y'know, moving, and it would take ages to get an update.

My feedback to you, Neorice, is to keep up the good work. The new style looks awesome, and if you could get more stuff done in each individual update it'd be even better. It felt (to me, at least) like getting to the castle for Burk and Pablo took an eternity and a half, and then they had to climb the castle wall.

Sometimes, fastforwarding to the interesting stuff is the way to go ^_^

I agree with Tom, A Path to Greater Good is a comic, and should be kept as one, to keep updates flowing if othing else. Not to mention the fact that we go to your site to do exactly that, read comics.

I like that you want to improve the comic somehow and move into an animated series, but we're fans of it as a comic.

wich doesnt mean that you couldnt, from time to time, relase an animated version of an strip.

I'd prefer if you left it as a comic and only did some specials (like holiday or whatnot) animated.

1309: Thomas - Wednesday, December 2 2009 - 12:16 PM

I like the idea of an animation, but I like it being a comic better. More frequent updates. :D

1310: Zera - Thursday, December 3 2009 - 1:38 AM

While flash sprite animations can undoubtedly be awesome, I prefer it be a comic, and not just because 'more frequent updates' or whatever. I find comics to be much better for, well, comedy, and flash to be better for "OMG ACTION"

Personally, I'd think it'd be best to keep the comic static as it is except for certain events that could really benefit from having full animation, busting it out and having all of us go HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME!

Maybe you could commission someone to make the flash for you, like those Eight-Bit Theatre ones? *shrugs* I made more comments on the forum.

Don't get me wrong, this is a sweet idea and all, but it's ludicrously unrealistic.

You need several months of experience with flash before you can do anything decent. Right now, you have zero. Flash isn't a 'trivial' skillset you can just sit down and do with no prior experience; it's a deep skillset like pixel-art where you need lots of practice. This is why it's a resume item that companies hire+pay people large amounts of cash for. It's hard.

If nothing else, even if you already knew flash, the additional frames of animation you'd need to do to make your scenes work would just be withering.

If you try and do this, all you're gonna do is not get much done over the next several months. Delay frogatto even further, cryo-freeze aptgg updates, et cetera. Don't do it. IT'S A TRAP.

I've fiddled around with flash on occasion, and for this kind of work, it's not likely worth it.

Creating basic simple animation you could learn quickly, but to make it anything you'd consider worth posting online, it'd require far too much work.

Your comic is great as is. If you want to learn flash, go right ahead, but do it as a side thing, don't automatically do it because you think it'll help with the comic. Because it probably wont.

1315: Captain Justice - Friday, December 4 2009 - 2:35 PM

Also. Pixel art is pretty much impossible in flash.

1316: A fan - Saturday, December 5 2009 - 1:45 PM

Jetrel is completely correct, flash is insanely hard to do well. and for your style, damn near impossible to do justice.
