Honestly I kind of like this pink haired rapscallion. That's a clear case of nominative determinism though.
Object translocation does seem pretty useful. More useful than Felix's cards - and that's not intended as a knock on his power.

apparently the threat of explosive decapitation is not enough to keep those kids in line...

And he was executed that very afternoon

Oh, we got names.
Yeah, Arsene will 100% end up as the Levin of the arc.

@Tom: Well, with a name like *that*... perhaps it's too obvious though? In terms of "student most likely to attempt to stuff Windows in the nearest locker", the Malhartians appear to be baring a grudge.
He's a bit too cavalier considering the situation he and all the students are in. This 'is' about turning them into something useful to the empire. Being nothing but a problem might get him cut.
That said, I think he wisely chose not to share his magic. I have a feeling their first assignment is going to pit them against one another in some light espionage and having your magic secret might be beneficial.

Huh. What a fun week.
Most recent HoH page:
Introduces a character named "Arsene."
Most recent El Goonish Shive page:
Talks about Sherlock Holmes.
Also, how come when Arsene says "sir" it kinda sounds like "fuck you"?

So, myself and my partner have a running joke between the two of us, featuring an unfortunate, suffering, imaginary child of ours named "Butt-pain," who is unfairly used as a scapegoat for all of our problems.
I imagine something similar is going through the head of anyone who names their child "Arse-ne."
